Acupuncture is a healing art developed in China over 2000 years ago that involves the insertion of very fine needles into various points on the body for the purpose of eliciting a physiologic response to treat a disease or condition. Interest in utilizing veterinary acupuncture has been on the rise since the 1970s. The American Veterinary Medical Association approves and supports acupuncture as a viable treatment modality.
Veterinary Acupuncture can provide healing and treatment for:
Pain
Gastrointestinal Disorders
Respiratory Conditions
Other
The use of laser light in veterinary practice has been on the rise over the last several years. The light produced by laser has the ability to be absorbed by tissues creating therapeutic benefits. The laser is beneficial in wound healing, muscle regeneration, joint healing, rehabilitating from surgery or injuries and control of acute and chronic pain especially in the aging animal.
Your pet will feel a gentle soothing, almost like that of a good massage. Laser therapy almost immediately aids in the relief of inflammation and pain. There are no known side effects and no additional restrictions on activity after the treatment. Laser therapy is often used as a complement to acupuncture. Each treatment is individualized to your pet's own specific treatment plan.
Chinese herbals have nutritional properties that have been used for thousands of years. They serve to safely strengthen and maintain organ networks in balance. Chinese herbs are safe and effective with very few potential side effects. They can supplement your pet's diet and support and promote optimal health and well being.
The herbs are tailored to the individual animal and are often used in conjunction with acupuncture for the maximum benefit. They can aid in reducing inflammation , supporting and strengthening the immune system and pain relief. Herbs are directed at the root cause of an illness rather than simply the symptoms.
Herbal therapy is tailored to each individual animal and may change during the course of treatment.
Diet and nutrition is the foundation of your pet's good health. Both health and healing all start with food. Each pet is unique in its needs depending on its age, constitution and health conditions.
The individual needs of your pet will be evaluated at each visit. Dr. Beattie will also discuss possible nutritional supplements including nutraceuticals and herbs. Various dietary options will be explored including high quality commercial diets, as well as the pros and cons of the raw diet and home cooking.
With a little education about the benefits of optimal pet nutrition you can greatly enhance your pet's health and longevity.
